Two men accused of killing a Fiji-born Canadian national near Korovou in Tailevu in February 2023 have been sentenced to mandatory life imprisonment.

Edward Nand and Salimoni Lagicere appeared this afternoon for sentencing before Suva judge Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull.

Justice Bull has also issued a minimum term of 16 years for Lagicere and 18 for Nand before a pardon can be considered.

They are convicted of killing Narend Chand on February 19 that same year.

The charges were sanctioned by the Director of Public Prosecutions with lawyer Zenith Zunaid.

Lagicere was represented by lawyer Loqi Cati while Sunil Gosai represented Nand.
