Gifted athlete Cilia Lewatu is making headlines once again, this time in the world of Netball.

She has recently joined the Fiji Pearls squad as they gear up for the PacificAus Sports Netball series in Brisbane from February 17-22.

Lewatu’s versatility in sports is evident as she has previously excelled in rugby and cricket.

Last year, she showcased her talents at the South Seas Healthcare Pacific Cup in Auckland, New Zealand, playing for the Fiji Cricket team.

Her remarkable journey from cricket and rugby to now being a part of the Fiji Pearls squad is truly inspiring.

Lewatu expressed her excitement at being selected for the final 15 squad, describing it as a dream come true.

“Being in the final 15 squad was a dream come true, i know i have been playing cricket and rugby and representing Fiji in Cricket but still, i never give up on achieving my goals and to be in the Fiji Pearls,” said Lewatu.

She credits her late grandmother and supportive parents in Nadi for instilling in her a never-give-up attitude towards her dreams.

“I want to take this time to dedicate this achievement to my Nena who passed away, she always told me to never give up on my dreams especially Netball, and to my parents who are back in Nadi.”

The PacificAus Sports Netball series will see Fiji facing off against teams from Samoa, Tonga, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and First Nations Australia, providing a platform for the Fiji squad to hone their skills and strategies.

Each team brings a unique playing style which will undoubtedly test Fiji’s mettle on the court.

Fiji’s first challenge will come against Samoa on February 17, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive series of matches.
