Fiji’s first ever peer-to-peer lending platform is on track for a prototype unveiling by the end of August.

This was confirmed to this newspaper by local fintech ThirdRoc, who is developing the platform.

ThirdRoc country head Tawake Tuitokatuadua said while ThirdRoc is setting up the entity, the directorship and how the organisation will run and development work are also happening in the background.

“We are working with the Reserve Bank of Fiji and there are milestones we have to achieve to set this up, both in terms of the platform as well as the fintech organisation,” Mr Tuitokatuadua said.

“We are aiming towards end of August to have a prototype ready to showcase to other people,” he said.

He said the peer-to-peer lending platform will allow Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to access different types of financing solutions depending on the need of the businesses.

Mr Tuitokatuadua said the peer-to-peer lending platform is aimed to connect borrowers directly with investors through digital technology, creating an alternative funding channel outside the traditional banking system.

He added the platform will improve access to finance for MSMEs that struggle to secure conventional loans.

The platform is enabled by the Access to Business Funding Act 2025, drafted to improve access to finance for Fiji’s MSMEs and overseen and licensed by the Reserve Bank of Fiji.
