IT is away from the usual island resort or resort-style accommodation in Fiji which is why Leleuvia Island Resort is a gem.
The island is 35 minutes away from eastern coastline of Viti Levu in a fast boat. The waters around Leleuvia are clear and the emerald green clad island is rimmed by golden sand. To add to its allure, it is neatly sandwiched between two of Fiji’s most historically prominent places, Bau and Ovalau.
Of late, Leleuvia Island Resort has been offering the healthier experience in life by providing just the right amount of life’s necessities without spoiling your desert island experience. Being on the island gives you a sense of freedom because you will realise that you are free and far from the stimulus of a modern world.
Tourism Fiji describes Leleuvia Island Resort as an artist’s retreat, a lover’s escape, a journeyman’s destination or as a waterman’s playground, Leleuvia can be many things to many people.
This is a place which is great for almost any kind of a break or adventure. Be it by yourself, with the family, friends or even a lover’s escape.
This place is simply amazing.
? Things to do
Explore Leleuvia’s bush trails watching native birds overhead, or sway to the slow beat of the island in a hammock. Try your hand at beach volleyball, kayaking or explore the Cannibal Pot. Get wet snorkelling the nearby majestic reef or dive the Daveta Levu Passage.
You can also go fishing or break out the kite on the long sand bar at low tide or try hand at sailing a catamaran.
The waters around Leleuvia are called Waisiliva – Silver Waters. Nightfall sees reflections and glimmers dance on the water’s surface. With each full moon, the resort celebrates by lighting a bonfire on the island’s beachfront, rekindling ancient urges and a connection with the elements.
There is also a chance to discover the rich culture and history of the area, with trips to nearby Levuka, the island of Moturiki and the chiefly island of Bau.
There is also a chance for you to take a step back in time, walking the very tracks that the first settlers, missionaries, tribal warriors and the paramount chiefs of Fiji once trod.
And then there is always beach volleyball, coconut husking, crab racing, kava ceremony, kayaks, kids’ club, snorkelling or just lazing around.
My favourite activity is having a few beers and just lazing around the beach or being in the water and to make the experience even better, the food is amazing as well.
Leleuvia prides itself in providing the local Fijian cuisine using fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits. Breakfast is included in the room deals.

Getting there is simple. First part of the journey is making it to Nausori Town. There begins the second part of the journey which is to Bau Landing. Both these trips can be made by bus as well.
At Bau Landing, the crew from Leleuvia would be waiting to transfer you via fast boats. It is generally a smooth voyage as a cruise through the ocean.
The holiday experience here is an adventure for all types and ages. This trip is basically a getaway and we all need one of those from time to time.
