LELEUVIA Island can be described as a little spot of sunshine, surrounded by emerald turquoise waters.

Just the view of the island can take your breath away.

Getting there is easy.

Once you’ve reached Nausori Town, you catch another bus to Bau Landing.

The resort will have organised their resort boats to wait for you and take you on an idyllic 40 minute cruise.

The boat ride took us past the Chiefly Island of Bau, known for its many historic tribal wars and shaping of much of Fijian political history.

And in following traditional manner, visitors are often asked to take off their hats or sun glasses when the island comes into view as a sign of respect.

The boat ride kind of takes you into a world of your own.

We were lulled by the sound of the engines and the waves.

As soon as we reached the island, hustle of the mainland and the rest of the world seem so far away. Located in the Lomaiviti archipelago, Leleuvia kind of gives you the experience your very own private island.

You can practically walk around the island in just an hour undisturbed.

Whats even fascinating is the island’s shark nursery, if you’re lucky you can catch a glimpse of the shark puppies which sometimes make an appearance close to the shore.

Leleuvia Island Resort has traditional thatched 28 square meter private Bures located right on the beach.

Each Bure features a queen and a single bed and sleeps three guests as standard.

They also have a segregated Male and Female Dormitory, containing bunk beds, capable of sleeping 20 in each.

So come on down if you’re looking for a private island to explore. Some of the fun activities on the island include beach volleyball, kayaking or explore the Cannibal Pot.

The island also offers great snorkeling trips to the majestic reef or dive at the Daveta Levu Passage.
