THE Lautoka football side moved a step closer to winning this year’s Digicel Fiji Premier League title after thumping high flying Suva 3-nil in a round 16 match at Churchill Park yesterday.
Sitiveni Cavuilagi’s goal just before half-time saw the home side take a slender 1-nil lead at the break. The Blues, backed by vocal home support, came out firing in the second spell.
Goals from Prashant Kumar and Usman Omede sealed the deal for the Sugar City side.
The win sees Lautoka extend its lead at the top of the standings to five points.
After playing 16 matches, Lautoka has 34 points. Rewa has 29 points from 15 games while Suva has 26 from 15 matches.
