MORE than 20 teams battled under the scorching western sun as the Lautoka Netball Association successfully hosted its senior division knockout competition at the Multipurpose Court in Lautoka on Saturday.
Teams competed fiercely across the U18, senior women’s and men’s divisions in what was described as an exciting and competitive day of netball.
The tournament also marked the inclusion of new clubs for the 2026 season, with Topline Netters making a strong debut appearance.
The newly revived club has returned to the competition after decades away and is using sport as a platform to help steer youths away from drugs and criminal activities.
Lautoka Netball Association executives and committee members extended their appreciation and support to all participating clubs and new teams joining this season.
“Vinaka vakalevu and all the very best to every club Lautoka Netball stands proudly behind you,” the association said in a statement.
The association also acknowledged the dedication and service of hardworking women administrators Vilimaina Tubanawa Pareti, Salote Baleitava and Adi Losevati Raeveuvu for their continued contribution towards the growth of netball in Lautoka.
The association said the trio continued to inspire players, officials and supporters through their leadership, teamwork and commitment to the sport.
Saturday’s knockout competition highlighted the growing strength of netball in the west, and the important role sport continues to play in building stronger communities and guiding youths towards positive pathways.
