The Qalitu and Buabua community in Lautoka have come together to search for a missing elderly woman.
Rada Rukmani was last seen by her relatives on Saturday June 28 when she was returning from a wedding.
Qalitu resident and retired headteacher, Nand Kishore is requesting the Minister for Defense Pio Tikoduadua to send military officers to comb the dense forest where Ms Rukmani might have gone missing.
“From Monday 30th June till yesterday afternoon I led a team of volunteers and went to search but our search was turned futile,” said Mr Kishore in a social media post.
“Today (yesterday) a team of close to ten Fiji Police Force officers came to conduct another search but was called off due to dense bushes.”
Fiji Police have also put out a missing person alert for Ms Rukmani.
