FIJI is a central part of the sevens rugby success story and continues to make a strong contribution to the global growth of the sport, World Rugby CEO Brett Gosper said.
Gosper said Fiji’s contribution was “notably evident” when it created history, capturing the hearts and minds of sports fans around the world when it won gold in the sport at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
“Fiji are synonymous with sevens and have incredible fans who travel the world to support their team,” Mr Gosper said.
“”They always generate a great atmosphere and have unwavering support for their team, but also appreciate all teams, which is great to see.”
But will Fiji be successful in its bid to host a tournament?
That will be seen in the near future when World Rugby announces the hosts of the World Sevens Series for the next four year cycle.
