A farm labourer of Nacovi, Nadi says he can’t feed his family and is seeking urgent assistance from members of the public.
Pardip Kumar Singh said the decision by Government and Sugar Ministry stakeholders to push the Lautoka mill’s start date back has affected his ability to provide for his family.
“I am not working at the moment, I have no money and it is difficult to provide even one meal for my family,” the 45-year-old said.
Mr Singh said he did not receive the $90 assistance provided by Government during the lockdown period despite applying and is “keeping his fingers crossed” that he gets the $50 assistance announced recently.
He said his family had been surviving with the assistance provided by good Samaritans. “The groceries we have are about to finish.
“I have an elderly father to care for also, apart from my family and we urgently need help,” he added.
