Labasa golden girl Stella Naivalulevu was confident that they will win it.
The 28-year-old was sensational in helping her team win the Digicel Women’s Inter District Championship at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday
. Stella hails from Saqani Village in Cakaudrove, Vanua Levu and has maternal links to Samoa.
“We were confident that we will win it,” she said.
“I give thanks to the Almighty God for giving us the strength and also hats off to the girls for working together.
“Despite being away from each other we managed to pull off a win.
“We would like to thank our families, our supporters for believing in us.”
She said being the second oldest of five siblings motivated her to work hard for her family and her team.
She said balancing work as a mechanical engineer and training was tough.
“I am grateful to my family, my parents for their support and giving me the chance to play football.”
Playing football for the past 10 years, Stella joined Suva and later on moved to Labasa.
She adds her love for the sport started off as a leisure time spent after work but then she developed the passion for this sport and she hopes that one day she will represent the country.
