The Labasa football side came from a goal down to hold Suva to a 1-all draw in the first leg of the Pillay Garments Champion versus Champion Series at the ANZ Stadium last night.
Suva started well as defender Remueru Takiate slammed in the opening goal three minutes into the match.
Labasa failed to clear a corner kick of which Takiate took full advantage.
Suva led 1-nil at the break.
Labasa pressed in the second spell and were rewarded after veteran Taniela Waqa was fouled inside the penalty.
Marlon Tahioa converted from the spot to level the scores.
Labasa’s Sitiveni Rakai nearly found the winner late in the match but his volley from 30 meters swiveled just over the cross bar.
The second leg will be played at the same venue at 3pm on Sunday.
