Simione Kuruvoli’s goal kicking form against Australia yesterday brought a lot of relief to Fijian rugby fans.
The 24-year-old was perfect with his goal kicking slotting in four penalties and a conversion for a personal tally of 14 points.
He was subbed off in the 47th minute but coach Simon Raiwalui confirmed it was due to cramps the nippy halfback had to be pulled out.
“He had cramp so we had to work on that, drink some more pickle juice,” Raiwalui said.
“He has trained well all week, he has kicked since we were back at the Warrior U20s back in 2020.
“He has not been a regular but the coaches have worked with him and all the kickers have worked hard to get consistency and he was outstanding today.”
There were a lot of questions from fans on who would be best suitable for goal kicking duties when Caleb Muntz was injured before the start of the world cup.
If anything, Kuruvoli has answered that question with a sublime performance yesterday.
