Ravendra Kumar won the overall nett in the first round of the Vikrant Chandra-sponsored Ba Golf Club medal event.

Kumar, 58, shot a total of 67 nett and also received the nearest to pin (NTP)prize. Kumar, who has been a member of Ba Golf Club since 1984, believes his experience allowed him to outperform the other 19 golfers who participated at the FSC Golf Course yesterday.

“I’m familiar with this Golf course and my technique was to relax and just to be aware of the wind direction.

“There were other young golfers but I guess it was my experience that kept me moving forward,” Kumar said.

Living around the FSC compound area was an added advantage for Kumar, as he only had to take a two-minute walk to the course for practice and back home.

In other results, Ashwin Sharma won the total gross with a score of 77. The Sugar Research Institute of Fiji employee was pleased with the outcome.

“I’m happy with the result, the competition was tough from other golfers but I managed to pull it through,” Sharma said.

In other results, Asish Chand won the A grade, while Indra Warjan settled for second. In the B grade, Samisoni Mara finished in first place, while Damon Chen finished second.

Pradesh Chandra won the C grade, and Prakrit Naidu finished in second place.

Rohit Chandra received the longest drive prize.
