YOUTH engagement in the sport of golf is something that Fiji Golf member Alex Konrote believes is important to encourage.
Konrote and his team Shiff Shafts participated in the Signz & Design Stableford golf competition at the Fiji Golf course in Vatuwaqa yesterday, where a total of 44 golfers took part in the event.
The competition included both women’s and youth categories, bringing excitement to the game of golf.
Konrote expressed gratitude towards the event sponsor, Signz & Design, and highlighted the importance of regular sponsors for the Fiji Golf club’s weekly competitions.
He shared that as members of the club, they always look forward to Saturdays for their love of the sport, despite any challenges with the weather.
Konrote also addressed the misconception that golf is an expensive game, particularly for young people.
“It’s not an easy game to sell to the young, a lot of parents think that golf is an expensive game, in many ways it’s not cheap, but we trying to show parents that the avenues and support systems within the club itself we can provide,” said Konrote.
Konrote believes that golf is a beautiful game with no age limit.
“I like to encourage parents to bring their children to Fiji Golf, we will look after them we will provide the necessary equipment.
“And for the kids who is interest it’s a beautiful game, it’s a game that there is no age limit a 12-year-old can beat a 60-year-old expert, so yeah its game that everyone can play.”
