President Jioji Konrote was today reminded to learn from the leadership traits of Samson in the Bible.

He was inaugurated as the honorary Colonel of the regiment of the first battalion, Fiji Infantry Regiment (1FIR) at the State House.

RFMF Chaplain Reverend Major Ilaitia Tuwere said during the thanksgiving service that the RFMF was changing and there was a need for a leadership that seek divine intervention for some better and wise decisions.

As portrayed in the Book of Judges in the Christian Bible, Samson was a legendary Israelite warrior, judge and divinely inspired leader.

Rev Major Tuwere said  meaning of Samson in the Hebrew context was “little sun”.

“Samson was successful in his work because he depended on God,” he said.

Mr Konrote is the ceremonial head of the 1FIR (1st battalion) based in the Golan Heights and Iraq.
