Fiji Men’s National 7s head coach, Osea Kolinisau, is proud of Ponipate Loganimasi for joining the Fijian Drua team.
He believes in the importance of his players progressing and taking advantage of opportunities as they arise.
Loganimasi, known for his speed on the field, will be joining his Paris Olympics teammates Iosefo Masi and Selestino Ravutaumada in the Drua Men’s squad for the upcoming 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.
In his debut for the national 15s side, Loganimasi made an immediate impact by scoring two tries in the Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan.
He stepped up for the Flying Fijians after Ravutaumada’s injury in the tournament’s first round.
Kolinisau expressed his happiness at Loganimasi’s progression, stating that he wants all his players to follow a similar path of growth from 7s to fifteens rugby.
“I’m happy with Loganimasi, joining the Drua that’s what we want progression, just come and play in 7s and progressed into fifth teens,” said Kolinisau.
He believes that transitioning to the fifteens game can be beneficial for players in terms of both skill development and financial opportunities.
“Great progress because obviously that’s where the money is at, so I’m happy for Poni and I wish him all the best in his season with the Drua, and his future goals.”
