Fiji Airways Fiji 7s men’s coach Osea Kolinisau has named an experienced 15-member team to defend the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games next month.
Two-time gold medalist Jerry Tuwai had been given the nod to give a third attempt while three 15s players Josaia Raisuqe, Iosefo Masi and Selestino Ravutaumada also make the cut.
Kolinisau had gone for experience in the likes of Waisea Nacuqu, Joseva Talacolo, Ponipate Loganimasi, Iowane Teba, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Filipe Sauturaga, Kaminieli Rasaku, Terio Tamani and Jerry Matana.
Joji Nasova, who made his debut on the World SVNS Series this year, also makes the cut with speedster Vuiviwa Naduvalo.
“The Olympic Games are a unique event, and our biggest challenge will be adjusting to the rhythm and flow that comes with the international stage, given our limited time together. However, I am confident in the talent and experience of our players,” Kolinisau said. The team leaves for France on Monday.
