Kidney disease

Kidney disease

It is sad to read that Fiji’s youngest kidney disease patient is 16 years old and that his parents have to raise funds for his dialysis treatment three times a week, at $250 per treatment (FT30/9).

Emosi Leucu is pleading with members of the public to watch their diet and live a healthy lifestyle.

With all due respect, I believe that his message should not only be limited to the printed dailies but to be aired on Fiji’s radio stations and television.

I also believe that it is us parents who need to walk the talk and live healthy before we get the young ones to follow us.

When young people are diagnosed with NCDs including kidney disease, then we can say that the NCD statistics for our adult population would be pretty high.

Good heavens, Fiji’s youngest kidney disease patient is pleading for all Fijians to wake up, watch their diet and live a healthy lifestyle!

Let’s get healthy Fiji!
