Pritesh Khatri emerged as the champion of the 2nd National Ranking tournament organised by the Southern Billiards and Snooker Association of Fiji, where he defeated Jitendra Prasad with a close score of 4-3 at the prestigious Merchants Club in Suva yesterday.
The tournament, which spanned three days and attracted a total of 38 participants.
Khatri reflected on his challenging match against Fiji’s second-ranked player, who is set to represent the country in the upcoming Commonwealth.
“The match was difficult, I was playing with Fiji number two top player he is going to represent Fiji in the Commonwealth games in Port Louis, Mauritus,” said Khatri.
“He is one of the two players representing the country, I count myself a bit lucky, I was under pressure most of the time, but I managed to get myself out.”
Acknowledging the crucial role played by the Southern division and their sponsors, particularly Goundar Dhaba, Khatri credited their support for enabling his success in the competition.
“This victory wouldn’t been possible without the Southern division, without our sponsors Goundar Dhaba.
“I have been playing Snooker for 20-years now and just growing in the sport each time I play, I like to dedicate this win to the Merchants Club members, and my family.”
