Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama urged frontline healthcare workers and members of the disciplined forces employed at Nadi International Airport to keep Fiji’s borders safe.
He made the comment yesterday while inspecting how passengers arriving at the international gateway were screened.
“We will continue to repatriate our people, we have reopened our borders to those with work permits,” the PM said.
“And we are involved in exploratory discussions to reopen higher volumes of travel with our regional development partners.”
He said the frontline healthcare teams and members of the disciplined forces had to keep Fiji’s borders safe.
“So long as the pandemic rages overseas, our people are at risk and we cannot afford to operate at anything less than our very best.”
As reported in this newspaper yesterday, Mr Bainimarama confirmed Fiji had a new border quarantine case of COVID-19.
