Update: 5:10PM FIJI’s High Commissioner to India, Yogesh Karan is the country’s first ambassador to Bhutan.
Mr Karan has presented his credentials to the King of Bhutan, Jigme K.Namgyel Wangchuck.
A statement from the Fiji High Commission in New Delhi said Mr Karan conveyed Fiji’s message on behalf of the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
Mr Karan said Fiji was keen to work closely with Bhutan since the two countries had many similarities.
He also met with the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay and discussed climate change and the possibility of Bhutanese students studying in Fiji.
