DEPUTY Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica has refused to comment on the ongoing ripple effect of the Commission of Inquiry’s (COI) report, which has resulted in two senior government officials being removed from their positions.

Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) acting commissioner Barbara Malimali was suspended by President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu on Thursday afternoon, followed by Attorney-General Graham Leung, who was dismissed by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka yesterday morning.

In a statement released by Mr Rabuka following news of Ms Malimali’s suspension, he said he was informed by Ratu Naiqama that the decision was made based on the COI report.

Mr Rabuka also stated that Mr Leung’s dismissal was due to the findings of the same report.

While responding to questions from The Fiji Times on allegations of his involvement in Ms Malimali’s appointment, as well as his possible implication in the COI report, Mr Kamikamica said he would not be making any comment.

“I have not seen the report, so any comments are premature,” Mr Kamikamica said.
