ALMOST two years after Komal Kumar lost her life in a Ferris wheel accident, her family is still grappling with the “pain” of waiting for authorities to identify who is responsible for her death.
Her mother, Sunita Wati, 50, claims grief and the long wait for answers took a toll on her husband’s health, leading to his death.
“When I think about all this, it gives me pain,” she said.
Earlier this month, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) — which confirmed receiving the file in September last year — said it had completed its analysis “and the file has been returned to the director CID with our recommendations”.
Police have not responded to questions sent over the past two weeks.
THE mother a young girl who died after falling off a Ferris wheel in 2023 claims police are yet to provide an adequate report to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) .
Sunita Wati, 50, claims Komal’s death devastated the family that her husband died of grief over the inaction of the police.
“One year ago, the police gave us a report which said she died as a result of falling off the Ferris wheel,” Ms Wati said.
“Six months ago, I went to the Director of Public Prosecutions office for an update, and they told me they were working on the case.
“They told me the police did not give them a proper report.”
According to Ms Wati, another daughter had also sought an update from the police on several occasions, but they had stopped taking her calls.
“After that, I didn’t get any update from them or from the police,” Ms Wati said. “It’s so sad. It’s been nearly two years, and the police don’t have a proper report for the DPP on the incident.
“Because of all these worries, my husband also passed away..”
“We are waiting for justice and I hope justice will be given to us.
“When I think about all this, it gives me pain.”
Earlier this month the ODPP — which confirmed receiving the file in September last year — said it had completed its analysis “and the file has been returned to the Director CID with our recommendations.”
The ODPP did not say when the file was returned.
Police have not responded to queries on the matter.
