HIGH Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo will deliver his judgement today in the case of a man charged with the murder of a 51-year-old man five years ago.
Tarun Kumar Rawat, who is charged with one count of murder, appeared before Justice Temo at the High Court in Suva yesterday.
After the summing up of the case by Justice Temo, defence counsel Anil Singh asked the court if the assessors could be directed to the good characters of the accused in his credibility as a witness in the case.
Mr Rawat was found guilty of one count of murder by two assessors while the third assessor found him not guilty, but guilty to the lesser offence of manslaughter.
The alleged offence took place in July 2011 near Denarau in Nadi after an argument between the accused and the deceased.
The accused was alleged to have punched and thrown a stone at the victim.
The alleged incident stemmed from an argument after the victim saw love bites on the accused’s neck.
Rawat’s bail has been extended.
He will reappear before Justice Temo this morning.
