The High Court in Lautoka has warned drug accused Alzaid Shain Rizwan for failing to inform the court he had changed his residential address.

Charged alongside Grace Katia Liuvoliga with two counts of unlawful possession of 12.33 kilograms of cocaine and one count of unlawful exportation of illicit drugs, Mr Rizwan was ordered by Justice Sunil Sharma to file a bail variation application or spend the rest of the court proceedings behind bars.

Mr Rizwan said he had moved from an apartment complex in Martintar to Wailoaloa after he was served an eviction notice by the landlord and that he was running out of money.

He asked the court’s assistance to access more than $7000 of his money that was seized by the State following his arrest in 2024.

In response, Justice Sharma told prosecutors that Mr Rizwan’s properties, including the money, should be returned to him if not needed as evidence in the proceedings.

The case has been adjourned to May 25.
