High Court judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere says more time is needed due to the numerous issues and evidence addressed in the judgment of high seas murder accused Tevita Qaqa Kapawale.
Mr Kapawale appeared for judgment on May 22, but Justice Tuiqereqere informed him his fate would be known next month.
Mr Kapawale, a father of three, faces five counts of murder and a count each of attempted murder and criminal intimidation.
He is alleged to have murdered five fellow crew members of a fishing vessel — three Indonesian nationals and two Fijians — in 2021.
He is also alleged to have attempted to murder and criminally intimidate two Fijian nationals on the vessel.
Lawyer Triveshni Sharma from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions appeared for the State while Tobia Ravuniwa from the Legal Aid Commission appeared for the defence.
Justice Tuiqereqere will issue the judgment on June 26.
