About 10,000 Fijians will be able to generate income and contribute towards mitigating climate risks through the Jobs for Nature 2.0 Project.
Speaking during the launch of the project this morning, Attorney-General and Economy Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the beauty of Jobs for Nature 2.0 project was that it was extremely multifaceted.
“It will not only provide people with jobs, it will create economic opportunities, it will help mitigate climate risks, it will also ensure that we are reducing our carbon footprint also,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
World Bank resident representative for the South Pacific Lasse Melgaard said the project was the coming together of community members, multiple sectors or arms of government to do work that mitigated the impacts of climate change and generated income for their communities and families, while also protecting the most vulnerable rural areas across the country.
