Western athletics top bets — Natabua High School and Jasper Williams High School have retained their titles in the Boys’ and Girls’ divisions at the 2023 Coca-Cola Lautoka/Yasawa Zone Games that concluded last Thursday at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.
Traditional champions Natabua took out the boys’ title with 32 gold, 18 silver and nine bronze medals.
Tilak High School came in second with six gold, four silver and five bronze medals. Lautoka Central College was third with three gold, 10 silver and six bronze medals.
In the girls’ division, Jasper Williams High School proved too strong for yet another year coming in first with 28 gold, 16 silver and 13 bronze medals.
Natabua High School came in second place with 16 gold, 12 silver and six bronze medals, while Ba Provincial Free-bird Institute took third place with two gold, six silver and three bronze medals.
Natabua High School’s Semuela Vunivalu and Melania Turaga of Jasper Williams High School took out the best male and female athletes’ awards for the games meet.
