The Government is to receive a multi-purpose vessel with the help of the Japanese Government.
Minister for Infrastructure Ro Filipe Tuisawau said during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Tamavua-i-Wai bridge in Suva last week that an agreement had also been signed for the Regional Meteorological Centre project in Nadi.
“Two days ago, we signed an agreement for the delivery of a multi-purpose ship, which will focus on disaster relief, but at the same time also on servicing maritime islands including Lau, Kadavu, Rotuma, Lomaiviti and other islands,” Ro Filipe said.
“In addition to that, we have signed letters of agreement on the Regional Meteorological Centre in Nadi. It’s another project which is ongoing.”
Ro Filipe thanked the Japanese Government for its help.
