A Lautoka man has been jailed for nine years and 10 months and two weeks for raping his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter in 2017.

A Lautoka man has been jailed for nine years and 10 months and two weeks for raping his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter in 2017.

Judge Justice Chamath Morais found the man guilty of one count of rape and one count of sexual assault after a two-day trial.

“It was proved during the trial that, being a close friend and a relative of the family, how you preyed upon her, sexually assaulted and raped her on one morning,” stated Justice Morais in his November 12 ruling.”

Justice Morais set a non-parole period of six years and 10 months and two weeks.
