JAGINDRA Primary School (JPS) has made a strong and promising debut in the Nasinu Primary Schools Netball Association competition this year, entering three teams across the under-11, under-12, and under-13 grades.
This marks a significant step in the school’s journey in broadening its focus beyond academics and support for all-round development of its students.
Coach Litia Fane shared that the school’s primary motive for joining the competition was to provide students with valuable opportunities to gain experience and confidence in sports.
“We are not here to win games, but to give a chance to the students to explore, especially when it’s their first time taking part in this kind of event,” Fane said.
The inclusion of netball in the its curriculum highlights a progressive move by Jagindra Primary, traditionally renowned for its strong academic achievements.
With more than 30 students participating across three grades, the school has already witnessed encouraging growth and improvement in the teams.
“Since this is their first time taking part, we’ve seen a lot of improvement in the girls,” Fane noted proudly.
Looking forward, the school aims to expand its sporting programs, encouraging more students to participate and increasing the number of teams in future competitions.
“We are so looking forward to this competition, We are also encouraging our girls to fill in more grades for the upcoming events, looking forward to next year’s competition as well.”
This new chapter reflects the school’s commitment to breaking old traditions that measure student success solely through academic results.
As the school takes these strides in sports development, it sets a fine example for other schools to value and invest in the holistic education of their students, recognising that true success lies in balancing intellectual, physical, and social growth.
