Labasa Town Council chairperson Paul Jaduram plans to develop the northern town’s botanical garden.

Two days into his appointment, he says he has big plans for the town.

At the moment, he said one of the many priorities would be the botanical garden because the town looked bare.

“There’s no work been done to the garden for years,” Mr Jaduram said.

“I think the last one was the tree we planted many years ago.”

He said he wanted to transform the botanical garden into something similar to My Suva Park.

“We will want to put tables and chairs where families would come and spend a day at.

“Also, a platform where big events could be held like the one in Ratu Sukuna Park.”

Apart from this, he plans to install seats around the town.

“Many people coming into town are travelling from far. They are exhausted.

“Also, we are planning to put some taps around town for people to drink and wash their hands.”

He said he would work together with the two newly-elected special administrators — Edwind Chand and Samuela Ligairi — to address the challenges the town faced.
