Launched today in Suva by the Prime Minister, the iVolavosa
or Fijian Monolingual dictionary app is the result of a collaboration between
the iTaukei Institute of Language and Culture and the Itaukei Trust Fund Board
in the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs.

The dictionary contains an audio file for each headword with
image, links and audio for stories.

While launching the app, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarma
said the app development was a “milestone for the preservation of the iTaukei
culture.”

He said the app would benefit iTaukei language speakers, allow
non Itaukei to better understand the complexity of the iTaukei language and in the
process fostering relationships.
