INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY | Program’s expansion heralds new chapter

LIFEBREAD Stay Connected has expanded the reach of its flagship Confident Woman program, taking its empowerment training beyond its usual base and directly into communities, including the maritime islands of Yasawa.

The organisation recently piloted a condensed, community-based version of the program in Naviti and Yasawa last year marking its first outreach to remote island communities.

Funded by Women’s Fund Fiji, the Confident Woman Community Training Program is designed to strengthen life skills and personal development among women.

The Yasawa rollout followed a direct request from the community, reflecting growing interest in programs that focus on women’s personal growth and wellbeing.

Director of LifeBread Stay Connected, Dorinda Work, described the outreach as a significant milestone for the organisation.

“The response was overwhelming. Many women shared that they had never experienced training focused entirely on their personal value, emotional wellbeing, and leadership potential,” Ms Work said.

Unlike traditional business-focused workshops, the customised training centred on soft skills development. Key modules included self-care, personal development, anger and behaviour management, women’s leadership, change management, and financial wellbeing.

Participants reflected on how the sessions helped them see themselves beyond traditional roles of wife and mother, recognising their continued contribution to family and community life.

Encouraged by the positive response, LifeBread plans to further extend the program across Ba Province, working closely with the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Ba to expand implementation across its 21 tikina (districts).

Ms Work said the maritime outreach signals a new chapter in their work.
