Damodar North Ltd is a division of cinema giant Damodar Group.
Chief executive officer Div Damodar said the development marked the arrival of the first international hotel brand in Labasa, elevating the towns’ profile in Fiji’s tourism space.
“This is the first branded hotel that’s going into Vanua Levu, it has 40 rooms, three suites, an 80-seater conference area, a pool, gym and outdoor entertainment area, bar and restaurant facilities and all,” Mr Damodar told this newspaper.
Scheduled to open later this year, the new hotel is designed to meet the expectations of both business and leisure travellers.
Mr Damodar said the hotel would boost the economy in Labasa.
“The introduction of an international hotel brand in Labasa is expected to stimulate further growth in the local tourism sector.
“The presence of Ramada Encore provides greater opportunities for the development of tourism activities in Vanua Levu, especially in the picturesque areas around Labasa.”
Mr Damodar said they aimed to serve as a hub for tourism activities in Labasa.
Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Damodar City Labasa will operate under the management of Damodar North Pte Limited, ensuring luxury experience synonymous with Ramada Encore hotels worldwide.
The new hotel is part of the larger Damodar City Labasa project, a comprehensive commercial development into which Damodar North Pte Limited has invested $60 million.
Out of this, $10million has been invested into the construction and fitout of the hotel.
This investment reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing the tourism appeal of Labasa, a region with untapped potential.
