The Western Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League semi-finals had some thrilling matches despite the wet weather on Saturday.
The Vodafone Schoolboys and Pherrus Schoolgirls Trophy saw some intense competition as teams battled it out for a spot in the nationals.
In the under-15 category, Ba Methodist Saints faced off against Sigatoka Valley Cowboys, with the Cowboys emerging victorious 12-6.
The U17 match between Ba Methodist Saints and Ba Pro Dragons was a close one, with the Dragons ultimately coming out on top 8-4.
Nasau Eels managed to secure a narrow victory over Sigatoka Valley Cowboys in the U15 division, winning the match 8-6.
In the U17 category, Natabua Bulldogs defeated Sigatoka Valley Cowboys 16-8.
In the girls’ matches, Ra High Roosters emerged victorious over Nasikawa Vision Raiders 6-0. Jasper Vikings put up a strong performance to edge out Nakauvadra Raiders 12-0.
In the U19 category, the match between Sigatoka Methodist Storms and Ba Methodist Saints ended in a 10-all draw.
Ra High Roosters secured a narrow victory over Ba Pro Dragons 14-12.
FSSRL media officer Lai Corerega said the Fiji Secondary School Rugby League congratulated all the teams that made it into the nationals and commended them for their efforts.
“There were some upsets in the tournament, with Lelean Bati U17 suffering a loss to Vashist Muni Sea Eagles.
“In the Southeast Schoolgirls category, ACS Knight and Namosi Titans faced defeats against Wainimala Raiders and Rt Latianara Raiders, respectively,” said Corerega.
“However, Jasper Vikings and Ra High Roosters stood out as strong contenders in the West Zone and will be teams to watch out for in the upcoming nationals.” |
