PACIFIC region insurer Capital Insurance is onboard as one of this year’s sponsors for the Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) micro small medium enterprise conference scheduled for next month.
The announcement was made at the official launch of the conference event at the Southern Cross Hotel last week, highlighting that the sponsorship towards the conference was the first from the insurance company.
In an interview with this newspaper, Capital Insurance chief executive officer David Ariff Chan said they were proud to be onboard as sponsors for the upcoming MSME conference.
“I attended the conference last year, the first one and it was an amazing conference and having attended the conference, we saw the real value that a conference provides to all the participants at the venue.
“You know that feeling you get when you attend a conference that: ‘hey this was a meaningful conference’, well I felt that and when the opportunity to provide the sponsorship for this year’s conference came up, we were delighted to provide support,” Mr Chan said.
He said Capital Insurance had a responsibility to supporting the local community including the growth of MSMEs in Fiji.
“At Capital Insurance, we’re one of the few companies that has insurance solutions and risk solutions across multiple product lines.
“From medical, house, car, business insurance, life insurance and even the marine and we also have the solutions to help the MSMEs to support their business.
“We’re also very committed to the community, and we provide various support initiatives for women empowerment, people with disabilities, youths; we sponsor grassroots rugby and upcycling the environment, so we’re passionate about people, we’re passionate about the community and we’re certainly very passionate about the MSMEs,” Mr Chan said.
The two-day BAF MSME conference, scheduled for June 26-27, will be held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Nadi with an expected attendance of 300 participants.
The conference, which is being implemented by BAF and its funding agency Business Link Pacific, will bring together not only MSMEs but development partners, Government stakeholders, financial institutions and the private sector to share insights and explore opportunities for sustainability and growth for MSMEs in the country.
