The Suva High Court has sentenced Imran Khan to one year imprisonment in Fiji’s first conviction and sentence for contravening a restraining order under the Proceeds of Crimes Act 1997.

Justice Thushara Rajasinghe imposed the sentence this morning, ordering that the one-year prison term be served concurrently with Khan’s existing sentence.

The charge related to offending between September 16 and October 1, 2025, when Khan knowingly breached a restraining order issued by the Civil High Court in 2023 by facilitating the transfer of motor vehicle registration KNGKHN to his brother.

Khan had pleaded guilty to one count of contravention of a restraining order, contrary to section 42(1)(a) of the Proceeds of Crimes Act 1997, and was convicted accordingly.

The case marks the first charge, conviction and sentence for the offence of contravention of a restraining order under the Act in Fiji.
