Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has confirmed that he is named in the Commission of Inquiry report into the appointment of former FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali.

Speaking to media yesterday, Mr Rabuka said he and his three Deputy Prime Ministers met to discuss the report’s findings, alongside general budget matters.

The meeting was initially scheduled for Tuesday after Cabinet but was postponed due to the Prime Minister’s official commitments in the West.

“We discussed everything, and I cannot disclose the contents because that is between me and my deputies,” Mr Rabuka said.

He said the government would act on the report’s recommendations, which include handing it over to police and FICAC for investigation.

“The recommendation is that the report be released to the police and FICAC,” he said.

“It can be made public after the redaction of various matters in the report, particularly Chapter 7.”

The COI was triggered by serious questions surrounding the legality of Ms Malimali’s appointment.
