The Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team has lost its team culture. This was highlighted by former Fiji Airways Fiji 7s playmaker Livai Ikanikoda who said there were a lot of individual plays by the national side in the last two legs of the 7s series.

In an interview with this newspaper, Ikanikoda said players were playing tourist and not performing their job at the 7s series.

Due to no team work, he said the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s could not achieve its goal in the Dubai and Cape Town.

“There’s a lot of young players within the national side. There’s no senior player to guide the team on and off the field,” he said.

“I believe in the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team everyone wants to be star, no team work was seen in the last two legs.

“The team can only win a tournament on the 7s series if they work as a team, this is apart from fitness.”

He said the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team did not have a game plan in the last two legs.

“Every other team had prepared well for the 7s series with a goal to win Cape Town and Dubai leg.”

He said the team should get this right in the next leg of the 7s series.

The next tournament on the SVNS Series is the Perth event in Australia from January 26-28.
