The double header between the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and the Queensland Reds followed by the Vodafone Fijiana XV and the Wallaroos is an integral part of the Drua’s efforts to enhance its reach towards women’s rugby.
The club’s general manager commercial Shane Hussein shared that with this newspaper when asked how the double fixture would align with the club’s efforts in enhancing its impact in women’s rugby going forward.
“It’s a big part of our strategy, big part of our objective and our reason for being the pathway for both the Flying Fijian and Fijiana teams,” Hussein said.
With the offer of two exciting clashes at the price of one for fans, he added how exciting the opportunity would be for fans and stakeholders.
“For us to be able to put on a match day featuring the Fijiana (XV) would be absolutely epic; it’s wonderful,” he said.
“We’d never be able to do this with the Flying Fijians and because most of our players are in the Flying Fijians.
“International Test rugby for men doesn’t cross over during the Super Rugby season but international Test rugby for women does allow us to put on a great match day for fans and for corporates as well.”
As the various teams gear up for their respective matches tomorrow, fans wanting to attend the games will only have to pay the price of one ticket to see both matches.
Ticket prices will start from $25 on the grass embankment, $40 on the concrete embankment and the grandstand seats starting at $75 and upwards.
The Fijiana XV meet the Wallaroos at 5pm while the Drua meet the Reds prior to it at 2.05pm, both matches taking place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
