Hotel reopens after TC Winston

ONE of Rakiraki’s iconic tourist properties will reopen this Friday, five months after it was shutdown after being extensively damaged by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.

The Tanoa Rakiraki Hotel will reopen the first stage of its refurbished premises on July 1, and area general manager for the Tanoa Group Matthew Gillespie said the quick turnaround was testimony to the commitment of the management and staff of the property.

“The hotel was badly hit by TC Winston and our people were all personally impacted,” he said.

“I and all the senior members of the Tanoa Hotel Group and the Reddy Group, are so very proud of the actions and determination displayed by hotel manager Rameshwari Mani and her team on the night and every day since.

“They have displayed the true Fijian spirit and the Tanoa way on a daily basis.

“They never gave up or lost hope and have worked very hard to return ‘their’ hotel to an operational status.”

The first stage of the Tanoa Rakiraki Hotel is the opening of 10 accommodation rooms and the main services building including the reception area, kitchen, restaurant and bar.
