Hotel group races to cure kids

THEY are back, and this time The Accor Race to Survive Fiji — to Cure Kids event will be bigger than ever.

Following successful events in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 in which they raised more than $1million the Accor Hotel group and their charity partner Cure Kids hope to raise more when they return to the country later this month.

Accor New Zealand, Pacific Islands and Japan senior vice-president Garth Simmons said they believed it was their responsibility to give back to the communities they operated in.

He said they looked forward to another successful event, saying they would ensure the work they were doing continued.

“We are incredibly proud to once again hold this charity event in Fiji,” Mr Simmons said.

Cure Kids CEO Vicki Lee said they would not be able to continue the work they did in the country without the support of Accor Hotel group.

“Our partnership has seen thousands of children in Fiji screened for RHD, and those found to be suffering from the disease are in national treatment programs.

“This year’s event is going to be another amazing example of the incredible work Accor does here in the beautiful Fiji islands,” Ms Lee said.

Eighty-five competitors from Accor Hotels in Fiji, New Zealand and Australia will take part in this year’s Accor Race to Survive Fiji and will be joined by a number of sponsor teams.

The event will begin at Novotel Nadi on Monday, October 20 and finish at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Friday, October 24.
