As a result of the closure of the Ba Hospital mortuary, the bodies of the deceased will be taken to the Lautoka Hospital mortuary.
Aspen Medical issued the advisory last week to Ba residents that the town hospital would be responsible for transporting the deceased to Lautoka Hospital by a dedicated hearse service.
“We would like to advise that mortuary services at Ba Hospital have temporarily ceased for technical reasons,” the Aspen Medical management said.
“Services will resume as soon as the necessary works are completed.
“The bodies of your loved ones from Ba Hospital are being moved to Lautoka Hospital as a temporary measure.”
Aspen Medical said all police cases would be directed to Lautoka for the post-mortem examination.
The bodies will also be kept at the Lautoka Hospital mortuary free of charge for the first three days and charges would be incurred from the fourth day.
Aspen Medical morgue charges are as follows: Day 4 — $34.50, Day 5 — $34.50, Day 6 — $57.50 and Day 7 onwards — $80.50/day.
“We regret the inconvenience caused to your family during this difficult period and we are working hard to resolve the issue.”
