The Nadi weather office states the reason for the flash floods in parts of the country this afternoon is due to the high intensity rainfall which coincided with high tide.
The Fiji Meteorological Service states in its 5:00pm special weather bulletin a flash flood warning remains in force for all low lying, flash flood prone areas and small streams of Sigatoka area.
“High intensity rainfall has been recorded in the area over the past hour which coincided with high tide causing flash flooding,” said Fiji Met.
Flash flood has been reported in parts of Sigatoka town, Lawaqa road and other low-lying areas in Sigatoka.
Fiji Met adds flash flood alert remains in force for all low lying, flash flood prone areas and small streams of Vanua Levu, greater Lami, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu and Naitasiri area.
