Hibiscus & Ruthless film to be released in Fiji

Update: 6:25PM MEASURE Twice Shoot Once (M2S1) film announced the launch date for the screening of the much-anticipated Pacific film titled ‘Hibiscus & Ruthless’ in Fiji later this month.

This was confirmed today by their media personnel, Niko Toluono, who said they also hoped to fly the cast over to Fiji once they had secured their partners.

A statement by M2S1 today said the film’s release in Fiji was a result of the many requests from Fijians to bring the movie to the islands.

“The response from the people in Fiji for the movie has been incredible. Most people saw our first movie ‘Three Wise Cousins’ and they loved it hence the demand for this one,” said Mr Toluono.

Film writer and director Stallone Vaiaoga-Ioasa said the movie was a slice of life, with a unique perspective into a strict Pacific household with plenty of laughs along the way.

“The crew and I have stepped up our game from Three Wise Cousins with an energetic script that captures the hectic nature of trying to balance abiding by a parent’s very strict rules and the world outside of home that tempts you to break them,” he said.

Hibiscus and Ruthless is the first collaboration for Vaiaoga-Ioasa and his sister, Abba Rose, who produced the film.

Ms Rose said the film celebrated women, provided a platform for female Pacific voices and stories and it addressed some real issues families faced on a daily basis.

The film will open in cinemas in Fiji on February 22.
