THE battle for supremacy in the West Secondary Schools Rugby Union competition is expected to intensify this Saturday as teams return for the second round of matches across the region.
Several exciting encounters are on the cards in the Under-18 grade, with Ba Methodist High School taking on Tilak High School, while Ra High School faces Ba Provincial Freebird Institute. In Nadi, rugby fans can look forward to another blockbuster clash when Ratu Navula College hosts Natabua High School.
With competition points becoming increasingly valuable, teams will be eager to build momentum and strengthen their positions on the ladder.
Ba Methodist High School will be one of the sides to watch this season. Boosted by the presence of several players from the Ba Rugby Academy, the side has shown promising signs early in the campaign.
Their opening-round performance highlighted their potential after they battled to a hard-fought 14-14 draw against a strong Ra High School outfit last week.
That result has set the stage for what promises to be another demanding challenge against Tilak High School, who will be determined to make a statement of their own.
As the race towards the knockout stages gathers pace, supporters can expect fast-paced rugby, fierce contests and plenty of school pride on display throughout the Western Division this weekend.
