The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a heavy rain alert for Viti Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
The alert was issued at 9.10am today by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi.
The weather service says an easterly wind flow is prevailing over Fiji, while a trough of low pressure approaching from the west is affecting the western parts of the country.
Residents in the affected areas can expect occasional rain, with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms.
The Fiji Meteorological Service is advising people to remain alert, particularly in areas prone to flooding and other impacts from heavy rainfall.
