FIJI Foods Limited (FFL) which is the driving force behind the “Golden” brand was established in the early 70s by the then government in a bid to create employment opportunities for the Fijian people while manufacturing healthier food products at the same time.
Having the same sentiments in mind, the factory and entire business operations was acquired by Motibhai & Company Limited in 1982.
Located in Fiji’s bustling Capital City of Suva, Fiji Foods is engaged in the packaging of edible oils, including Soya bean, Canola, coconut oil and Vanaspati that are sold under the “Golden” brand name along with mustard oil and Allowrie ghee which are packed in BA town in 500ml, 750ml, 1litre, 2litre and 4litre PET bottles respectively.
Apart from packaging of edible oils, Fiji Foods Limited also manufactures Golden Margarine which is packed in 250g, 500g tubs and 20kg caterers pack along with Marigold Canola margarine in 500g as well. Also manufactured and packed are 20kg cake margarine and vegetable shortening.
“The company has progressively invested in technology and infrastructure to store oils preserving their optimal nutritive values,” Motibhai group marketing manager Abraham Gomes said.
“The entire manufacturing and storage process is monitored by state-of-the-art quality control and best practice,” Mr Gomes added.
He said the company had a central testing laboratory that is responsible for assuring quality in both manufacturing and storage.
“The company’s tank farm is equipped to store different types of oils as well as transfer them between tanks for efficient storage and handling.
“Over the past four-and-a-half decades, the Golden brand of packaged edible oils and margarines have established itself firmly in the discerning Fiji market.”
